Types of Chemical Reactions: How to classify five basic reaction types.

  • This video looks at how to identify the five reaction types presented in most introductory chemistry texts: 1.

    combination/synthesis, 2.

    decomposition, 3.

    combustion (& hydrocarbon combustion), 4.

    single replacement, 5.

    double replacement.

Each reaction type is presented with an identifying feature specific to the type, and several examples are included, also touching on product prediction.

Product prediction videos are linked at the end.
