Light Clock 1905 - Einstein's Thought Experiments on Relativity ???? w/Brian Cox #timedilation

  • physicist Brian Cox discusses in a lecture at Oxford University, he explains Einstein's thought experiment "THE LIGHT CLOCK," which allows us to understand the consequences of how time is different relative.

He adds how Einstein gave an example of a clock consisting of two mirrors with a light beam bouncing between them.

Moreover, he talks about how Maxwell's equations helped Einstein learn more about Time Dilation as he tried to explain a scenario involving a stationary clock and a moving clock.
This case is also called the Clock Hypothesis, which was implicitly (but not explicitly) included in Einstein's original 1905 formulation of special relativity.

Since then, it has become a standard assumption and is usually included in the axioms of special relativity, especially in light of experimental verification.

It also states that the faster the relative velocity, the greater the time dilation between them, with time slowing to a stop as one approaches the speed of light (299,792,458 m/s).
