Pen Tips 2 Softer Pen Tip for your Apple Pencil

  • I got two Pen Tips to test out.

I asked for a black one for the purpose of this video.

But they have also have sent me a white one.

    They are both the same.

You can easily replace your original Apple Pencil tip and screw on the Pen Tip.

It is made from silicon and feels softer than the Apple Pencil tip.

    Sketching
When you start to sketch with PenTips2.

    You notice a huge difference.

The silicone tip is much softer than the original Apple Pencil tip.

When you sketch slowly it is perfect.

The pressure sensitivity is the same when drawing with the original tip.

For this test I am drawing in Procreate.

In Procreate you can adjust the strength of the pressure you apply.

    Go to Actions.

Select Prefs and then tap on Pressure and smoothing.

You can adjust Stabilisation, Motion Filtering and motion Filtering Expression.

By default they are all set to None.

I select Motion Filtering and bring up the sensitivity.

I am more of a doodler when I am sketching.

I jot down my ideas pretty quick.

Pen Tips 2 slows me down too much and the pressure sensitivity is lacking.

The softer you press you will get hick ups in your drawing.

It is the same experience I had with the slide on Pen Tips.

    Inking
Lately I have been doing a lot of inking for my new comic Kwab and the Fridgedair.

I also created a BrushSet for inking in an engraving style.

When you ink you need more control.

    This is where PenTips2 thrives.

You get more control over the inks.

And have more control over thick and thin inking.

I am now inking in a more organic style.

But when you want to ink in a very clean style, it works very well.

Only with cross hatching PenTips 2 slows you down and your inks become inaccurate.

I tested this out in Procreate, but also wanted to see how the pen tip works in Adobe Fresco.

In Fresco PenTips 2 is less responsive.

You really need to press hard to ink.

With cross hatching the lines are lacking.
    Painting
The same goes for painting with Pen Tips2.

They do a great job when you paint slowly.

And you get rid of the ticking sound.

But when you want to paint quick strokes there is too much resistance.

    Writing
A lot of people use the Apple Pencil for note taking.

The ticking noise in a meeting or class can be quite annoying.

When you draw cursive the PenTips 2 can slow you down a bit.

But when you take notes in capitals you get a better effect.

It all depends on how much pressure you use while writing.

With a light touch the note taking is very smooth.

    Pros
    -No more ticking sound
-Ink and write with more accuracy
-No more slipping and sliding on your screen
    Cons
Pressure Sensitivity issues when drawing and sketching fast.
    Pricing
You will get 3 Pen Tips for the price of € 44,00 That is a lot of money.

When you want to buy the original tips for the Apple Pencil in the App Store you will pay € 25,00 for 4 tips.
You can test them out yourself.

For to Pen.tips and look for PenTips2.
