Behind the Scenes: Henry VIII's 1540 Field & Tournament Armour Deinstall

  • On this day in 1509, Henry VIII and the first of his six wives Catherine of Aragon, were crowned as King and Queen of England.

    Setting the stage for a reign filled with drama, intrigue and monumental change.



    To commemorate this historic event, we have something special to share with you:

    Check out our behind the scenes video capturing the deinstallation of Henry VIII's legendary 1540 Field and Tournament Armour, on loan to the National Portrait Gallery for their exhibition 'Six Lives, The Stories of Henry VIII's Queens.'

    It will be on display at the National Portrait Gallery until 8th September, after which it will return to its home in the Royal Armouries collection in the White Tower.
